On 8th October, a dedicated team from Bluestem Group participated in the Whole Hog Mud Run to raise money for East Anglia Children’s Hospices. It was an exciting day filled with fun, and we were delighted to support an important cause.

What is the Whole Hog?

The Whole Hog is an annual 5-mile race held at Wantisden Hall in Suffolk, England, where teams and individuals tackle a series of challenging obstacles in muddy conditions. In 2024, the event celebrated its 18th year and was the largest to date.

East Anglia Children’s Hospices

Each year, the Whole Hog partners with a charity to raise funds and awareness. This year, they collaborated with East Anglia Children’s Hospices (EACH), an organisation dedicated to supporting children and young people facing life-threatening or complex health conditions.

EACH tailors its care based on the unique preferences and needs of each family, providing support in various settings, including hospices and family homes. This approach ensures that every family receives assistance in a comforting and secure environment.

Team Bluestem

This year, twelve brave members of Bluestem Group took on the Whole Hog challenge.  The team faced over 30 obstacles throughout the 5-mile course, including crawling through mud, swimming through ponds, and climbing over hay bales and logs.

Despite emerging from covered in mud, hay, and with pond water squelching in their shoes, the team enjoyed every moment, though the clean-up process was definitely less fun! Special recognition goes to Mel Blanchard, who recorded the fastest time on our team at 1:24:10.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Bluestem’s JustGiving page raised £260 for EACH.
